A Personal Witness

The dismal cradlings of a rock bottom existence take people to the deepest inner workings of their own mind and their own heart. When all is lost all one has to reach out to is that which they cannot see, because all that they have seen has rejected their miserable existence. (Psalms 42:6) Is this the creation of God by our own desperation? Or is it a base instinct that God has placed within us for our protection?

THE SEARCH FOR GOD

Throughout each of my blog posts, these questions will find a response through my personal experience as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. This is my witness to you. The estonishing sensibility of God's plan makes it plain that there is indeed something more, that God has given us the instinct to search for Him and the means to find Him. With each blog you will see that God is the one who gave us our reasoning minds and limitless imaginations, and that He wants us to see His handiwork. We will never know how He amassed the energy to form the universe or even where he comes from, but He has given us the ability to understand how the universe has come to be what it is today. He has shown us that the universe is made of energy and even revealed to us how life came to be. To reject that on religious dogma not supported in the Scriptures is the same as denying the creator himself. There's a reason the Scriputes say not to add to or take away from His word. Leave your minds open.
I am writing this because in my own search for God I discovered that God wants us to explore, to ask why, to find purpose, and to search for him. It is humbling to me to know that the greatest being in existence, outside of existence, has taken interest in me, but I learned that when God speaks, we must get over that feeling or His words will mean nothing, blocked out by our awe. (Daniel 10:8-11) You must recognize him not just as a great and powerful being that has created all things and will judge the world, but as a Father seeking to guide you, just as Paul said, our spirit should cry out "Abba, Father". (Romans 8:15) When you understand this, He whispers in your mind from His Word, not from the words of a pulpit speaker, not even from this blog or any other. —Hebrews 4:12
The Scriptures contain the whole of God's truth. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) They help us to see if what is being said or that is written is the truth. This is why Jehovah's Witnesses use so many Scripture citations in their material, to show that what they have to say is the truth. Of course, they are human, and occasionally what is understood about a Scripture may change as they grow in understanding. (2 Peter 1:19) They are not so haughty as to think that everything they have published is infallible, but they speak in agreement concerning those things, which demonstrates their brotherhood. —1 Corinthians 1:10
Instead of coming away from this blog or a sermon just assuming it is the truth, you should ask God to show you the truth regarding these matters. But don't expect an answer right away. Leave your mind open and wait on Him. (Psalm 62:5) He will show you in His own time and when He can most effectively illustrate the truth to you for your own unique understanding. (Hebrews 4:16) He knows us better than we know ourselves, and when we try to force an answer, whether by accepting the word of a religious authority or trying to fit different Scriptures and evidence together to fit a preconception, we end up misleading ourselves. (Jeremiah 17:9-10) Truth is revealed to us because we want it and patiently search for it, not because we demand it here and now. (Proverbs 2:1-6) Truth often takes years to be revealed. —Proverbs 4:18-19
Life becomes worth living when you know that you have a Father guiding you through it each day, who holds your hand in your concern, who lifts you up when you are down, and who speaks words of comfort that lay your fears to rest. Why does God provide this benefit to people of all faiths? Because there is one simple truth expressed: God loves us, and wants us to search for him. (Isaiah 55:6-7; 1 John 4:10, 19)

THIS BLOG

I will not challenge your self-determination by forcing the interpretation of Scripture after Scripture, because interpretations belong to God and God speaks to each of us as we are ready to hear. But I will provide many Scripture references and quote Scripture often for your benefit. If at any time my words seem to force an interpretation, take it with a grain of salt and even question me honestly about it. I am a sinful human and cannot act flawlessly. Something may show you the meaning in the future or God may show the proper view in a spirit of correction. (Jeremiah 10:23-24)
I am not attempting to grab followers or form a religion. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and am a man simply sharing my faith with you, and you can take with you what you will. This is merely a profession of my faith and an attempt to help others benefit from the things I have learned. Note that I do not give any means of contacting me personally on this blog beyond responding to a blog post. But if you wish to contact someone personally regarding these matters, you may contact Jehovah's Witnesses.
The Scriptures admonish Christians to speak in agreement, so if you wish to respond to one of my blog posts, I suggest responding in an agreeable way. If you have a question, do not post it as a protest. Expressing agreement on agreeable points strengthens those points, and peaceful inquiry can bring forth truth. Discuss your conflict in prayer to God, and let him show you the truth. If your questions show honesty, then I will approve them and answer them. I have found that even in the strictest religions, the pulpit speaker may say things that are not exactly in line with the teachings of their religion or the religion may change its view at any time, so it is good to be in the practice of questioning the veracity of the things said to discover the truth for yourself. (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21) Even what is written is often stressed as factual, only later to be changed. It is important to want to be teachable. —Matthew 18:4; John 17:3
I recommend starting with "The Foundation to Build On".
Peace to you in our Lord, Jesus Christ.
